ACUPUNCTURE
A Technique for Smoking
Cessation
Gilbert, Arizona
(November 17, 1999) - Acupuncture can be very effective for those individuals
who have finally made a commitment to quit smoking. Under these circumstances, the success rate is high. Furthermore,
the typical stress and tension associated with smoking cessation can also be
alleviated through acupuncture. The
process works by diminishing, or abolishing, the craving for tobacco
smoke. The treatment is simple and
treatment sessions are spread out over a period of several weeks.
Acupuncture
is a technique of healing that has been in use in the Orient for thousands of
years. It involves the use of very fine
needles inserted into certain points in the body, called acupuncture points. This stimulates energy flow, thereby promoting
healing.
Advanced Cardiac Specialists has an established Acupuncture Clinic, at our Gilbert location, which is run by Hezekiah Chinwah, M.D., an Internist with the practice. The clinic brings together the best of Eastern and Western forms of medicine, facilitating integration into a more traditional Western practice. Dr. Chinwah received comprehensive training in acupuncture for six months through the Office of Continuing Medical Education (CME) at the UCLA School of Medicine, which is accredited by the Accreditation Council for CME. He is a member of The American Academy of Medical Acupuncture (AAMA).
