COMMUNITY OUTREACH
Advanced Cardiac Specialists,
as a statewide practice, is committed to serving as a useful and credible local resource,
as a community service in a strictly honorary capacity, in each of our locations which
currently include: Apache Junction, Buckeye, Casa Grande, Flagstaff, Florence, Gilbert,
Globe, Gold Canyon, Goodyear, Payson, Phoenix, and Prescott.
We believe we have a unique opportunity to
complement our experience by sharing our knowledge with respect to new techniques,
procedures, technologies, and drugs which are found to enhance the quality
of patients lives through ongoing public service announcements. Regardless of
which physician an individual selects, we believe each person has a right to be well
informed about what is available within the dynamic health care scenario.
Education
Advanced Cardiac Specialists publishes an informative newsletter for
community physicians outlining our leading-edge scientific research and technologies as
well as other innovations to our statewide practice.
Physician Involvement
Our Speakers Bureau is a readily accessible resource which makes our physicians
available to address public concerns on a variety of timely health care issues. On an
ongoing basis, our physicians are spokespeople for the American Heart Association during
February, Heart Month; May, Stroke Month; and for various additional requests they receive
throughout the year. Our physicians donate their time and expertise through programs such
as non profit international health care missions.
Staff Efforts
Our medical staff conduct health screenings upon request, at no charge as a community
service. We also sponsor open houses and health fairs on a regular basis at our statewide
office locations. Annually, our staff participates in the American Diabetes sponsored
Americas Walk for Diabetes providing blood pressure screenings to participants and
their families. For our own cardiac rehabilitation and research patients, we provide
networking and support group activities which, to date, have included heart healthy golf
tournaments and desert walks. Our employees give back to the community through their
participation in an annual holiday food, clothing and toy drive.
Organizational
We welcome
partnerships with chambers of commerce, corporations, hospitals, organizations such as the
American Heart Association and the American Diabetes Association, the Arizona College of
Osteopathic Medicine, and a variety of other community oriented entities.
Advanced Cardiac Specialists was recognized
at the Tri-City West Chamber of Commerces 40th Anniversary Dinner and Annual Meeting
for our leadership role with the Business Expo 1998, which showcased local companies,
services and resources. Thirty-five vendors/sponsors and approximately 1,000 people
attended; and all costs were underwritten. We were proud to fill the leadership void
resulting from the cancellation of the 1997 event due to lack of participation. In
addition, we are a founding member of the chambers Ambassador, as well as,
Networking Committees.
Our Director of Public Relations and
Community Outreach served on the Southwest Community Network Board of Directors. Their
mission is to mobilize the communities of Southwest Maricopa County (including Buckeye and
Goodyear) for effective development and utilization of resources, thereby enhancing the
quality of life in these communities. Our director has served as Chair of the Board of Directors
of Family Service Agency, a 100 year old non profit, dedicated to improving the quality of
family oriented life throughout the Valley.
Our AZ Internal Medicine Clinic was
acknowledged at the June, 1998 chamber meeting " . . . for bringing medical
state-of-the-art equipment and professionals to the Town of Buckeye", a
medically-underserved area in the heart of Greater Phoenix. We were represented on the
Buckeye HELP Educate Local People Committee to organize a September, 1998 program to
inform community leadership about local resources; and, to discuss voids and future needs.
In cooperation with the Greater Casa Grande
Chamber of Commerce and Regional Care Services Corporation we have re-established a
community-wide Health Care Roundtable to better support existing resources and to identify
voids. We also partnered with Regional Care Services Corporation on an August,
1998 Back to School Health Fair provide physicals for
approximately 300 - 500 local
children.
We are a founding member of the Florence
Chamber of Commerces Ambassadors Committee and sponsored a free community wide
health fair October 1998.
