PEDIATRIC
CARDIOLOGY
Overview
A pediatric cardiologist is a physician who
is specially trained in the area of diagnosing infants and children with heart disease.
Most often the heart disease consists of a heart defect with which the child was born.
These types of defects are known as congenital heart defects. Congenital heart defects
occur in just less than 1% of the general population. In addition to congenital heart
defects, the pediatric cardiologist also works with children who have cardiac dysrhythmias
(irregular heart rhythms), hyperlipidemias (lipid disorders) and acquired heart disease.
Jeff P. Rockow, M.D. F.A.A.P. is a pediatric cardiologist
with Advanced Cardiac Specialists. He completed his medical school training at the
University of Arizona in 1991. He then studied pediatrics and pediatric cardiology at the
University of Iowa. He is a Board Certified Pediatrician. Dr. Rockow's schedule is flexible
to accommodate patient needs; however, he is currently practicing in
Gilbert in addition to Northern Arizona.
